Julian Marczak FABRS

Julian Marczak FABRS was previously the co-proprietor and Chief Instructor of the renowned Suzanne’s Riding School in North London which ran as a family business for 65 years. The Marczak family moved to Kings Barn Farm in Ashurst, West Sussex in 2004 where they established a stable yard based upon providing livery, tuition and training.

Having ridden from a tiny toddler who later went on to show successfully at shows such as Wembley and Richmond, Julian comes from a classical background, his

trainers having included the late Charles Harris, Daniel Pevsner, the late Maestro Nuno Oliveira and Phillipe Davenport. His main interest is dressage and he has earned a reputation for being a dedicated, encouraging teacher who instils confidence in his pupils and gains results. Julian gives clinics around the country and the intensive lunge lessons which he gives to pupils of all levels are highly successful in improving the rider’s posture and balance in the saddle through the attainment of a deep, independent seat.

Today Julian is a Fellow of the Association of British Riding Schools (ABRS) and is the co-author with Karen Bush of “The Principles of Teaching Riding” and “101 Riding Exercises”, both of which have been recognised as official teaching manuals and translated in to other languages. He is also President of the ABRS and is a keen promoter of the Andalusian as a serious dressage horse at all levels.

Kings Barn Equestrian is a traditional stable yard in a beautiful setting, surrounded by farmland and adjacent bridleways. Oak framed verandas and period buildings enhance the tranquil environment and the yard has excellent facilities to offer.

These include an indoor school and adjacent manege which is fully enclosed with post and rail fencing.

The farm comprises some 60 acres which is divided into a number of different paddocks and at the centre is a delightful area of woodland known as North Wood.

There is excellent access to hacking from the network of rural lanes and bridleways leading to the South Downs.
